Lillian Manduca 2020

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Lillian June Manduca at the age of 76, on December 5, 2020 at Hogarth Riverview Manor. Lily is survived by her husband Ian Shaw (and his family in England), her sisters Helen DelBen and Rose Thompson, sister in-law Jackie Manduca, brothers Tony (Carol) and Sonny (Louise). She is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Lily will be welcomed into the arms of her parents Pasquale & Helen Manduca, brothers – Jimmy and Peter, sisters – Mary Lambert and Carmel “Tootsie” Smith, brother in-laws – Robin Thompson, Jerry Smith Sr, Eno DelBen and Fern Lambert, sister in-laws May and Sylvia Manduca. Lily was employed at the Fort William Clinic as a dedicated receptionist until her retirement. Lily’s ability to remember her clients’ names and phone numbers helped her excel in her career. Lily was born and raised a through and through East-Ender. Lily later moved to Rosslyn with Ian to enjoy country living. When her health declined, she moved to Glacier Ridge, and later to Hogarth Riverview Manor. Lily was kind, generous and had a heart of gold. She was everyone’s “Auntie Lily”. She loved BINGO, was an avid gambler, and could often be found at the Grand Portage Casino. She also spent a lot of time with Ian walking their dog at Mission Marsh. Lily was the number one cheerleader for her nieces and nephews at any event, dance recital or horse show. She could be found cheering on the side lines while also casting spells upon the other competitors. Lily never started a family of her own but was always eager to babysit her nieces/nephews, and great nieces/nephews. She always entertained the children with her imaginative stories and fun adventures. Lily obtained her license later on in life, although it seemed she never really understood the rules of the road. It would be a rare sighting if you saw Lily out and about without a back combed up-do, makeup, fake eye lashes, dangly earrings, sparkly clothes, and well manicured nails. We would like to thank the staff at Glacier Ridge, and Hogarth Riverview Manor for the compassionate care they provided for Lily. Cremation has taken place as per Lily’s wishes, and due to pandemic restrictions, there will be no formal service. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. Please sign your condolences online if you wish.
Don’t cry because she is gone, smile because she was here. Lily will be greatly missed.
If you wish to reach her in heaven “please ring once, hang up and dial again.” (This was Auntie Lily’s secret code).
