Larraine Ferguson
1952-2020
Unexpectedly, at her residence, on Monday, December 7, 2020,
Larraine Marie (Couture) Ferguson passed away. Born in 1952,
she is the only child of the late Rudolph J. Couture “Rudy”
and Ida Y. Guerin and the wife of the late Daniel G.
Ferguson.
Larraine better known to most as “Lo” or
“Rainy” was born in Toronto, Ontario. She chose to
move to Calgary, Alberta to settle and raise a family. Lo
began her music career as a duet and released a Christian record
“Wine and Roses”. She embedded herself in the
music industry within the city of Calgary and started her own rock
band, Doll House, which evolved into Blavk Rose. Her love of
music was not only her passion but her given talent. Lo was
chosen by a Calgary local band “Fun Company” as the lead
singer. The band became a local successful party band that
was invited to perform at the at the 1988 Winter Olympics for the
citizens opening ceremonies at Olympic Plaza. During her
time with Fun Company, Lo met her late husband Daniel Ferguson
“Dano”. She loved every moment with Dano as a wife
and partner in creating songs and music for many years to come. The
duo became known to all as LoDan. Her talent for writing
meaningful, beautiful lyrics was effortless at times and unmatched by
anyone else. Her love for music, and her Family never wavered and will
be missed by many.
Lo instilled her passion
for music in both her sons, Christopher, and Jesse. Christopher was
trained in the sound craft and lighting while Jesse was guided through
the learning of many instruments and singing. Her passion
for music lives on in bother sons and has been also passed down to her
granddaughters who both have a love for music and
creation.
Lo will forever be in the hearts of her sons, Chris (Sarah)
Rose of Calgary, AB, and Jesse (Janice Basilio) Rose of Oromocto, NB
and her granddaughters Alyssa Rose and Lilian
Rose.
In keeping with her wishes Larraine will be cremated and laid
to rest with her husband Daniel at a later date. For those who wish,
donations in memory of Larraine can be made to the charity of the
donor’s choice.

Death notice for the town of: Oromocto, Province: Nouveau-Brunswick
My husband Davis and I are saddened by the loss of Larraine. She had such spirit, kindness and a fantastic sense of humor, we shared many laughs and some tears while she lived here in Calgary. Larraine impacted our lives with positivity, there aren’t enough words to express the love we have for her. We will remember her always and the family is in our thoughts and prayers.
