Obituary of Judith Ann Heal
Judith Ann Heal (Matthews)
Jan. 23, 1941 – July 25, 2020
After a courageous battle with dementia and blood cancer Judy died at Strathroy Middle General Hospital with her husband Ed at her side. “She was the love of my life and I had the privilege and pleasure to be married to her for 59 years, 10 months and 24 days” and I treasure every moment I had. Judy was preceded by the death of her parents, Harry and Margeurite Matthews and her sister Yvonne.
She leaves behind her children she adored, Michele Ingold, Michael Heal (Wanda) and James Heal (Lydia). Her grandchildren, Wesley, Shawn, Courtney, Charlee, Willow, Michael Jr., Catie, a great granddaughter Taliah, a niece Cynthia Waters and two life –long friends Bonnie Greenlee and Carolyn Gerrard.
Judy loved cattle, horses and sheep and gardening on their farm south of Melbourne. She had a smile that would light up the darkest room and a kitchen that was warm and inviting where a visitor could stay for a meal or just a coffee and piece of delicious apple pie. She was a consummate volunteer with her church-Guthrie Presbyterian, Melbourne, Quad County Community Living, Melbourne 4-H home making club, Melbourne Fair Ladies Association, Ekfrid Township school board, Middle County Sheep Assoc., children’s reading at Caradoc Public School, Quilt judging at various fall fairs and more. She was a lover of people and animals and took in sick animals without questions which prompted one neighbour to say he was going to put a sign at the end of our farm lane, “bring all your sick animals here to Judy for care”.
Our family would like to thank the staff of SMGH for their loving care of Judy. We would especially like to thank Dr. David Sanders, Josh and Rose of ambulatory care and the nurses of Ward one South.
Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Judy please consider the Strathroy Middle General Hospital. A Graveside service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING’S OF STRATHROY. Share a memory at www.strathroyfuneralhome.com.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Judith

Death notice for the town of: Strathroy, Province: Ontario
My deepest sympathies to you Ed and your family. I was the secretary at Colborne School and Judy volunteered there. She was a lovely lady and always with a smile. We always talked about things going on in the Melbourne area, because I lived in Glencoe. Take care and God Bless.
Judy was a wonderful person. We spent many happy hours with her and Ed at the little church of St. Judes in Mt. Bridges. They both worked very hard sharing their talents. Judy was a great quilter and was eager to help others improve and enjoy quilting. We missed those days very much.
Our condolences and prayers are sent to Ed, Michele, Michael, James and their families during this time. Judy & Ed welcomed us to their farm and our visits to see Aunt Marg and all the family were so memorable! We learned quick to keep away from the bulls and never hide in the barn again! May Judy’s love and memories be in your hearts forever as she rests peacefully.
