Obituary of John Slade
Passed peacefully but suddenly away at the Health Sciences Centre, St. John’s on Saturday, October 3, 2020, John Slade of Victoria, age 71 years.
Proud owner/operator of Slade’s General Services Limited, Midtown Take Out, and Mainstreet Restaurant for over 40 years. A community-oriented businessman, always giving and never looking for something in return. His selfless acts to never be forgotten.
Predeceased by wife: Gladys; parents: John and Theresa; siblings: Claudia, Doris, Donald, Clifford, and Rosa.
Leaving to mourn, loving companion: Lynette Farrell, Victoria; two daughters: Rebecca ‘Becky’ (Michael) Whiteway and Amanda (Don) Rogers, both of Victoria; one son: Johnny (Pam), Ochre Pit Cove; three grandchildren: Jack (Rebecca), Asha (Desmond), and Jessica; sister-in-law: Dorothy Slade, Ontario; brother-in-law: Howard (Carol) Slade, Salmon Cove; two special nieces: Debbie Scarlett and Tina O’Quinn, both of Salmon Cove; also a number of other nieces, nephews, past and current employees, extended family and many friends.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private visitation will take place at Noel’s Funeral Home, Carbonear. To schedule a visit, please contact Jonathan at 597-2924. Funeral service from Noel’s Memorial Chapel, Carbonear, by invitation only. At John’s request, cremation will follow. A celebration of life service to be held at a later date.
As an expression of sympathy, donations in his memory may be made to the John Slade Memorial Fund to support his legacy of many acts of kindness back to the community, 7-9 Riverside Drive, Salmon Cove, NL, A0A 3S0.
