PLATT, John
With saddened hearts we announce the passing of John Platt, 79, on Thursday September 10 at Extendicare Peterborough. After a long battle with dementia, John died peacefully with his two sons by his side. Beloved husband of Marilyn Platt (nee Crossley). Loving father of Gareth (Els) and Mark (Julie). Cherished and proud grandpa of Aidan, Gunnar, Justine, Samantha and Max. John was a true gentleman, born and raised in North Wales and later moved to Manchester, England. John loved sports and excelled in soccer. He played for Manchester United and Oldham Athletic. In 1972 John moved to Peterborough, ON and opened his own construction company. He was active in the local sport community and volunteered endless hours coaching soccer with P.C.S.A, Ontario Soccer Association, Trent University and Fleming Knights Soccer. John will be forever remembered for his forever smile, caring heart and unconditional love. Dad, Grandpa, John, always so true, so kind and everyone’s friend. You left us beautiful memories, your love is still our guide, you will always be by our side. As per John’s wishes cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be announced at a future date. In memory of John, donation’s to Canadian Tire Jump Start Charities and can be made through HIGHLAND PARK FUNERAL CENTRE 2510 Bensfort Rd., Peterborough, On.
