John “Jack” Thomas Delaney, 70
North Sydney
It is with heavy hearts and sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Jack Delaney on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born July 5, 1949, he was the son of the late William Henry Delaney and Beatrice Maude Delaney. He was a member of St. john Anglican Church, North Sydney.
Jack was always active, spending his spare time playing baseball and attending many baseball games with his best friends; Doug MacDonald, Blaine Cooke, Joe Dowling and Tom Edmonds.
Jack is survived by his beloved partner Bernice Andrea, his three sons; Scott (Claire), Troy, and Mark (Nicole), two grandchildren; Dawson and Hunter, stepson Paul (Rhonda) Andrea, as well as step-grandchildren Kori and Vincent Andrea. He is also survived by siblings Marie (Runar) Olausson, of Duncan, BC, Ethel (Lorne) Burchell, Halifax, and Bill (Karen) Delaney, North Sydney, as well as his nieces and nephews.
Jack was predeceased by his parents William Henry and Beatrice Maude, as well as his nephew Derrick Burchell.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Bill MacDonald and sincere gratitude is extended to Dr. Kodadad, CB Cancer Center, as well as to all the excellent palliative care doctors and nurses at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
As per Jack’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private service and burial will be held for family in late spring at Lakeside Cemetery, North Sydney. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Center or Hospice Palliative Care Society.
