With profound sadness we announce the passing of Italia, our loving and devoted mother and friend to all whose lives she touched, on July 31, 2020. She was in her 85th year. Cherished mother of Bruno (Queade), and Elsa (Kevin), loving nonna of Aaron (Connie), Morag (Kyle), Andrew and Juliana, and bisnonna to Liam, Lucia, Luca and Linkin.
Born in Rocca San Giovanni, Italy, she witnessed incredible changes to her world and endured many hardships. She was a strong woman, immigrating to Canada in 1958 to start a family with her husband Biase, who preceded her in death in 2016. A hard worker, she began as a seasonal agricultural worker in St. Catharines and later enduring many years in the textile industry in Guelph. Strong willed and not afraid of anything but always with a wonderful sense of humour. She loved being around the grand and great grand children as it always brought a smile to her face. She will be sadly missed by family, relatives and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Hobson for the many extra years in life she enjoyed. To her family doctors Karl and Lee and Nurse Practitioner Morgan for providing the care and assistance during the good and difficult times.
Family and friends are invited to the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, 1099 Gordon Street, Guelph, where visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 from 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, 409 Paisley Rd., Guelph, on Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 10:00 am. Following the mass, interment at Our Lady Immaculate Mausoleum, Marymount Cemetery.
