Gregory Patrick McGinley 19582020

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gregory Patrick
Joseph McGinley announce his passing on November 28, 2020 at the
Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton. Gregg was born on April 7,
1958, the son of the late Jack and Mona (Stilwell) McGinley. Gregg
grew up in Chipman and later made his home with Ann in
Rusagonis.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 33 years Ann
(Hetherington), his brothers Richard, John (Donna), Bert (Willa) and
his sister Susan Forsyth (Dereck), his brothers-in-law Gary and Mike
(Glenna) and his fur baby Itty Bitty who was his constant companion,
his nieces and nephews Glen, Shannen, Jack, Jeff, Kelly, Kristi,
Lindsay, Erin, Cathy and Kyle and several great nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents and in-laws, Gregg was
pre-deceased by his sisters-in-law Trudy McGinley (Rick), Deborah Pye
and Jane Hallett (Gary).
Gregg loved the outdoors in all seasons – in the
summer he and Ann were on their boat every spare minute.
They loved being at the camp on Salmon River where every night you
would hear the chorus – I LOVE IT HERE – and in snowy
weather you would see them out on the skidoo. Gregg got his
love of woodworking and the woods from his father who was a Forestry
Engineer and his grandfathers Philip and Burton who were scalers and
woodsmen.
Gregg had a deep love for music and musical instruments
– he played the guitar, saxophone, harmonica and he had a
voice like an angel. The family will always remember the
song he wrote called The Dew Drop Inn. He entertained us all
with his rendition of Julio and Willie’s All The Girls I
Loved and his talent for imitating Jimmy Stewart and Katharine
Hepburn. One of his favorite songs was by Bob
Seger – “Against the Wind” and the lyrics “We
were young and strong/ we were runnin’ against the
wind”. He is now running with the wind.
Gregg’s love of cats was evident by the number of
strays that showed up on his doorstep which he adopted!
Gregg took pride in everything he did – from
careers, home projects, his vehicles, his workshop in the garage and
especially helping build the family camp. Nothing less than
perfection.
A special thank you to his Extramural nurses, Dr.
O’Brien and the Palliative Care staff. The love
and support of Gregg’s brother and sister-in-law John and
Donna and my brothers Gary, Mike and sister-in-law Glenna when the
rest of our family couldn’t be with me because of COVID19
restrictions will never be forgotten. An extra special
thanks to our friends Wanda Williams, Ruth Ball, Marilyn Charters and
Betty Hill for their support throughout Gregg’s
illness.
A family service will be held at a later date.
Donations to the SPCA would be appreciated.
