Simon, Gérard “Jay” (1935- 2020)
It is with great sadness that the family of Gérard “Jay” Simon announces his sudden death at home in Warren, Thursday March 5th 2020 at the age of 85 years. Son of the late Paul Simon and of the late Gracia Groulx. Loving husband of Françoise Simon (née Téssier). Dear father of Claude (Cheryl), Gilles (Denise) and Réjean (Ethel). Predeceased by his son Roger “Pete”. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Scott, Greg, Lisa, Terry, Joey, Chantal, Pete-Jay and by his great grandchildren Braden, Hannah, Lexie ,Dominique, Austin, Gabrielle, Janelle, Zoey, Jack, Anabelle, Vincent and Noah. Also survived by his brothers Doris (Gail), Richard (Joanne) and by his sisters Claudette Brossard (John), Rachelle Leblanc (Jean Guy), Gisèle Dallaire and Monique Olsen. Predeceased by his brothers Lucien, Jean Paul, Aurèle, Léo and by his sisters Lucille, Lorraine, Marie-Rose, Eva and Claire. Warren has lost one of its pioneers. “Jay” was one of the pillars of the community and was involved in various sports and community organizations over the years. He will always be remembered for his love of family gatherings, hunting and of course his favorite team the Montreal Canadiens. The Simon family will receive friends at the Théoret Bourgeois Funeral Home, 17 Rutland street, Warren Tuesday March 10th 2020 from 9 am. until 1 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 pm. In St. Thomas Church, Warren. Donations to the Canadian Lung Association would be appreciated (cheques only please).
C’est avec regret que la famille Simon vous annonce le décès de Gérard « Jay » Simon à sa résidence de Warren, le jeudi 5 mars 2020, a l’âge de 85 ans. Fils de feu Paul Simon et de feu Gracia Groulx. Cher époux de Françoise Simon (née Téssier). Père bien-aimé de Claude (Cheryl), Gilles (Denise), Réjean (Ethel) et de feu Roger ‘Pete’. Son souvenir restera gravé dans le cœur de ses petits-enfants Scott, Lisa, Greg, Terry, Joey, Chantal, Pete-Jay et ses arrières petit-enfants Braden, Hannah, Lexie, Dominique, Austin, Gabrielle, Janelle, Zoey, Jack, Anabelle, Vincent et Noah. Lui survivent également ses frères Doris (Gail), Richard (Joanne) et par ses sœurs Claudette Brossard (John), Rachelle Leblanc (Jean -Guy), Gisèle Dallaire et Monique Olsen. Prédécédé par ses frères Lucien, Jean Paul, Aurel, Léo et par ses sœurs Lucille, Lorraine, Marie-Rose, Eva et Claire. Avec le décès de ‘Jay’, la communauté de Warren a perdu un de ses pionniers et un pilier du village. Il était très actif dans les sports et les activités communautaires. Il nous lègue de beaux souvenirs d’un homme qui aimait les rassemblements de familles, aller à la pêche mais surtout encourager son équipe préférée, les Canadiens de Montréal. La famille Simon recevra parents et amis au Salon Funéraire Théoret Bourgeois, 17 rue Rutland, Warren le mardi 10 mars 2020 dès 9h et ce jusqu’à 13h. La messe funéraire sera célébrée en ce même jour à 13h à l’église St. Thomas, Warren.
