George Leonard Parrish
1940-2020
George Leonard Parrish – age 80, of
Glenmont, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 28, 2020 in the
Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with his loving family by his
side. Born in South Berwick, he was a son of the late Harold and Lena
(Meisner) Parrish. George was a world traveler on eighteen wheels for
many years. He was a member of the South Shore Blue
Grass. He also had a love for camping, NASCAR racing and the
Blue Jays. He is survived by his beloved fiancé, Geraldine;
children, Timothy Parrish, Karen (Paul) Pleshe and Kevin (Michelle)
Parrish. He was a cherished grandpa to Nathan, Kelvin, Benjamin,
Justin, Dakota and Victorianna and great-grandpa to Julia and
Oliver. He is also survived by sister, Charlotte (Larry)
Buchanan; brother, Eric (Heather) Parrish. George was a special uncle
to his nieces and nephews and a friend to many, including
Geraldine’s family. He will be greatly missed by
Nicholas, who always called him “Gorge” and many friends,
especially by his dog, Zoey. Besides his parents, he was predeceased
by a brother, Carl and sister, Barbara.
There will be no visitation, by request.
A public graveside service will be held on Friday, October 2, 2020 at
2:00 p.m. in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville, Pastor Christina
Bigelow officiating. A video webcast of
the service will be available at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2,
2020 and can be accessed online at www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.Due
to the COVID-19 pandemic, masks will be required and please bring your
own chair. The family would like to extend special thanks to all the
doctors, nurses and staff that assisted in George’s care in
both Halifax and Kentville. Donations in memory may be made to
Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of one’s choice.
