Obituary of Gary Raymond Stevenson
A resident of Blenheim, Gary Stevenson passed away at home surrounded by his wife Liz and family members on November 26, 2020 at the age of 77.
Born in Chatham, Gary was the son of the late Raymond and Marion (nee Leach) Stevenson.
Beloved husband of 11 years to Elizabeth Craievich Stevenson (nee Rylett).
Loving father to Elisa (Stephen) Giovannetti of Fredrickton, NB, Krista (Donald) MacKenzie of Gibsons BC, Andrea (Craig) Stewart of Chatham; step father to Timothy Craievich (Erica St. Pierre), Dennis (Paige) Craievich, Pamela (Douglas) Hunter and Melaina Craievich (Jeff Schamahorn), all of Chatham.
Cherished grandfather and Papa to Jarrett, Joel, Sarah, Samuel, late Joshua, Eric, Rose, Meghan, Mathew, Andrew, and Dylan.
Dear brother to Betty Grace (late Clifford) Vince of Merlin. Predeceased by his brother Donald ‘Tiny’ Stevenson and his infant sister Anne.
Will be missed by lifelong friends, Larry, Don, Bob, Pat, and Tom.
Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, and close friends.
Gary was formerly married to Virginia Stevenson, mother of his children.
Gary taught for 35 years, was well respected by many colleagues, and will be missed by many of his former students. He was a member of the barbershop quartet in Merlin and Chatham, church choirs, tractor pulls and loved coaching girls’ soccer. He was a loving, devoted father who loved to have a good time with everyone, especially his ‘old’ pals.
Cremation has taken place with a celebration of Gary’s life to be held at a later date.
Donations made in memory of Gary to the VON, the Blenheim Food Bank, or the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 185 would be appreciated.
