Obituary
We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Frank Bahrynowski at the age of 85 years on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at the U of A Hospital with his family by his side. Frank leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 55 years, Annette (Garneau), daughters Marie (Raymond) Hogan, Michele Bahrynowski, Caroline Bahrynowski, and son Cory Bahrynowski, his grandchildren, Nicholas Hogan, Kaitlyn Hogan, Jessica McKay, Simone McKay, Brady McKay, Wendy Bahrynowski, Wyatt Bahrynowski and his great-grand children Luna Vanweerden and Faye Vanweerden. Survived by siblings, Olga Saiko, Victor Bahrynowski, Tom (Vicky) Bahrynowski, Josephine (Leonard) Ueland, brother-in-law Rae Somerville, sisters-in-law Tonia Baron and Katherine Bahrynowski, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Peter and Rosie, brother Carl, step brothers Walter, Mike and Peter, brother in-law John Saiko, as well as sister Mary Somerville.
Frank was born and raised in the Wildwood area, just a few miles from where he resided with his wife Annette. As a child he spent much of his time with his beloved Aunt Josie and Uncle Victor Hawryluk and their family, and remained close to them throughout his life.
Frank was a hard worker and a truck driver for many years, but his true passion was farming and so he gave up trucking and started to expand the farm that he had built along with his right-hand Annette and with Caroline soon to follow. He loved everything about the farming lifestyle and was extremely handy, building and repairing equipment, welding, and he loved operating his Caterpillar and clearing land. He also loved being in the Wildwood area where he could run into his friends who he grew up with and would often recount stories of them from his past. He loved to keep in touch with his fellow farmers and neighbors and spent much time talking to them on the phone, visiting when some of them stopped by, or jumping in with them to go to an auction sale. He was able to do all these things that he loved right up until the end. He began to feel ill a couple of months ago and spent more time in the house. He referred to himself as the “receptionist” as he began answering the phone most of the time, and in hindsight, we much appreciated that extra time to talk to him.
Unfortunately, due to the covid restrictions, we cannot have a celebration of life at this time, but hope that all of his friends and family will join us at some time in the future. Since we can’t get together to reminisce, please feel free to share your memories with us on the website. He will be buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
If friends so desire memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Mazankowski Heart Institute.
