Obituary of Florence Lovelock
Florence E. Lovelock passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 94 on September 17, 2020. She was born in Brooklyn, New York, on January 28, 1926. She was the beloved wife of the late Walter A. Lovelock Sr. and was survived by her 3 children: Florence V. Pashkewicz-Lovelock of Landsdowne, Walter A. Lovelock Jr. of St. Petersburg, Florida and Patricia Myers of Long Island, New York. She and had 8 Grandchildren including: Debbie, Stanley and Kevin Pashkewicz, Walter (Butchie), James (Jimmy), and William (Willie) Lovelock, and Deana and Jennifer Myers. Florence grew up in Springfield Gardens, NY with her older Sister Viola and her older Brother Charles. She was just was just one week old when her Mother passed away, needless to say her family was always very important to her. She married her high school sweetheart, Walter, at just 17 years old and they started a family of their own not long after. Primarily they lived on Long Island in New York until they retired to Sharbot Lake, Ontario, in 1972. Unfortunately, she only had the next 12 years with him as he passed away in 1984. She remained in Sharbot Lake for the next 23 years and at age 81 she sold the cottage on the lake that Walter built, packed up and relocated to Kingston, Ontario where she remained for the next 13 years in her apartment that she loved.
A very special thank you to the Victorian Order of Nursing (VON) who took care of Flo daily and were there for her when her family couldn’t always be. Thank you to both past and present PSW’s, Team Leads, Administrators including Megan, Emily, both Melissa’s, Byron, Cassandra, Amanda, Vanessa, Angela, Lilia, Holly, Christian, Logan, Josh, Jenny, Colleen, Keegan, Bob, Deb and everyone else whose name I’m forgetting. Thank you to all the special people who delivered her a hot meal every day and thank you to all at the Smile program workers who kept up with her laundry and housekeeping. Thank you Dalitso and Kelly for your time and patience by answering all our questions and helping us navigate her care throughout the years. Although Gram was a little sassy at times, she appreciated you for all you did for her and told us often. You were all so important to my family and we are forever grateful!
Due to Covid 19 protocols, limited chapel seating will be necessary. Please call the James Reid Funeral Home at 613-544-3411 on Saturday September the 26th between 11:00 am to 2:00 pm to confirm your attendance at the funeral. The service is to take place on Sunday September 27th 2020 at 11:00 am. Options for visitation times prior to the service will be offered. Face coverings will be required, and social distancing will be observed. All may attend the funeral service through livestreaming, please access Flo’s service via this link. After the service we will proceed to Flo’s final resting place at Oconto Cemetery in Tichborne where she will join her husband.
