Evelyn Jean Black 19272020

Evelyn Jean Black
1927-2020
It is with great sadness that we
announce the passing of Evelyn Jean Black, (nee Cooke) on Tuesday,
September 1, at her residence in Moncton. She was sleeping peacefully
and surrounded by her family when the Lord took her home. She was a
loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt,
great aunt and friend. Evie is the daughter of the late Beulah, (nee
Cutler) and Everett Cooke.
Evie chose to leave her beloved
career as a Registered Nurse to dedicate herself to her family. She
supported her husband Ron as he was promoted and transferred
throughout NB and NS. They settled in Moncton and when Ron retired,
they bought a cottage where they enjoyed years of fun making new
friends and hosting family events.
Before moving to Moncton, she
was a member of the Kings Chapter O.E.S.#21 in Sus. Once settled
here, she became a member of St. John’s United Church and
held several positions there including Chairperson of the Church
Official Board, church board of Stewards, U. C.W. and Girl Guides.
Evie was also a member of the Sir Charles G. E. Roberts I.O.D.E. Mom
was an avid lover of flowers, gardens and birds which gave her great
joy for many years.
Evie was predeceased by her
loving husband Ronald of 54 years, her sister Mary Terceira and
husband Tessie, sister Connie Buchanan, brother Ted and grandchild
Adam Thurber.
She will be forever loved and
remembered by her sisters, Beulah (Bea) Price (late husband Clarence),
Beth Keefe (late husband Jack), sisters-in-law, Irene Black (late
husband Ralph), Ruth Kirke (late husband Ken), brother-in-law, Joe
Buchanan, as well as Gordon Stone. Evie and Ron treasured their
children, grand-children and great-grand-children: Dawn and her
husband George Somers and their sons Kendall and spouse Ali (children
Connor and Reece), Keith; William (Bill) Black and spouse Monique
McTiernan-Black and their sons Mark and spouse Marise (children Emma,
Matteo, Caleb), Neil and spouse Meghan (children Adrian and Sienna),
Greg and spouse Leanne (baby Parker), Scott and spouse Brittany (child
Paige); Heather and her husband Bill Thurber and their daughters
Jennifer and fiancée Chris Burry, Sara and husband Chris
Keirstead (children Clara, Chloe); Lynn and husband Danny Reade and
their daughters Amanda and Kimberly. Evie is also survived by many
nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank
Reverend Aaron Billard, Evie’s friends and the many
individuals who cared for her in hospital and her residences over her
many years of failing health. A special thank you goes out to the
staff at The Briarlea on Ryan for their compassionate care of mom,
especially over the last several weeks.
No visitation by request of
family. A private funeral will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657
