Obituary of Elaine Winnifred Cullen
With great sadness, we wish to announce the passing of Elaine Winnifred “Lainy” Cullen (nee Heaney), age 67, of Lakelands, on Saturday, July 11, 2020, in the QEII Hospital, Halifax. Elaine was the daughter of the late Frank “Carmen” and Gladys (Bungy) Heaney.
She is survived by her loving husband of over 30 years, Richard; sister-in-law, Janet Heaney; brothers-in-law, Larry (Dawn) and Gary (Darlene) Cullen. She will also be dearly missed by her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, Gordon Heaney.
Elaine enjoyed travel, reading, baking and taking walks. She was also passionate about animals, as evidenced by her feeding hummingbirds and songbirds, which inadvertently fed racoons, squirrels and bunnies. She took delight in hand feeding one particular bunny which she named Hobo. She had a green thumb and was known for the stunning displays of flowers her front yard. Lainy had a love for music and dancing. She was funny, witty, bright, loyal to a fault and cherished by all. She treasured every moment she spent with family and friends. Elaine enjoyed a long-term career with Honda for over 30 years, most recently at Portland Street Honda and prior to that at Colonial Honda.
Many thanks to Dr. Pickett and the nursing staff on the ICU Unit, 5.2 at QEII Hospital for their kindness and compassion.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert Street, Windsor (902-798-8317). There will be a celebration of life held on Saturday, October 24 from 2-5 p.m. in the Golden Age Social Centre, 212 Herring Cove Rd., Halifax. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Elaine may be made to Hope for Wildlife. 5909 Hwy. 207, Head of Chezzetcook, NS B0J 1N0 (902-407-9453).
