Earl’s Obituary
WOODMAN, Earl LeRoy ~ It is with great sadness that the family announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, August 30, 2020, at the age of 91 years, in Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville, with family by his side. Born in Falmouth, he was a son of the late Walter and Cora (Fletcher) Woodman. He attended Windsor Academy and graduated from the Windsor School of Business in 1951. That same year he married Adria Brown and moved to Walton, Hants Co. where he was Office Clerk with Canadian Industrial Minerals for five years. In 1956, he moved to Falmouth and was employed as accountant with Hants Wholesalers in Windsor. In 1963, he moved to Berwick and was employed as Assistant Manager and Supervisor of Inspection Services with Kings Mutual Insurance until his retirement in 1991. He was active in the Boy Scout organization in Falmouth and organized a Scout Troop in Walton. He was a member of the Berwick Baptist Church and served as deacon both in the Falmouth and Berwick churches. He served as Councillor and Deputy Mayor for the town of Berwick for several years and was a member of the Berwick Police Commission and Housing Authority. While employed with Kings Mutual Insurance he was a past president of Canadian Section of International Association of Electrical Inspectors and a member of the Canadian Standards Association. During his retirement, he and Adria spent their summers at their beloved cottage on the Bay of Fundy and their winters in Yuma, Arizona. In 2007, Adria passed away. He and Margaret Withrow married in 2009. They spent four and a half years travelling until her death in May 2013. Besides his parents and spouses, he was also predeceased by sisters, Elsie MacMahon and Glenna Cunningham; brothers, John, Ralph and Percy. He is survived by son, Michael (Jo Ann); daughter, Michelle LaFosse; step-daughter, Susan MacDonald; step-sons, Robert (Gayla) and Michael (Debbie) Withrow; brothers, Cyril, Walter, Keith and Garnett; sister, Doreen Collie; and special niece, Carol Miller; also survived by several grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great grandchildren. He will be forever remembered and missed for his quick wit, his welcoming but mischievous smile and his easy going personality. A private family interment service will take place in Berwick Cemetery at a later date, with Rev. Evan Colford officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or the Berwick Baptist Church.
