David Ronald Jarvie September 14 1929 December 14 2020

David’s Obituary
Passed away peacefully, in his 92nd year, at Queensview Retirement Community in Paris on December 14, 2020. He was predeceased by his wife of 41 years Norma Lois (nee. Lawrence), brother Norman and chosen brother George Stables (Rosemarie). He is lovingly remembered by his son Scott (Donna), grandchildren Connor and McKayla, and his brother Brian (Dianne), along with several nieces and nephews.
Dave was born and spent his youth in Toronto (Islington), the eldest son of William Brown Jarvie and Florence Grimshaw. They later moved to Troy in 1946 and he spent the remainder of his life in the St. George and Paris area. Although he never completed High School, Dave had an artistic talent that landed him a job as a designer at Harding Carpets in Brantford – this led to a 30-year career at Harding’s after which he went on to pursue his own successful business as a Design and Colour consultant in the carpet industry. Throughout his career Dave had many opportunities to travel throughout Canada, the US and abroad to the UK and Germany. This love of travel and meeting new people lasted throughout his lifetime.
Dave loved the Muskoka Lakes and Bala in particular, and he and his family spent many summers at cottages in this area. One of his proudest achievements was to purchase a family cottage with his wife Norma and share his love of boating and entertaining with family and friends alike. They later retired to “Oahu Point” in Bala and enjoyed their winters in Panama City Beach. Following Norma’s passing, Dave was lucky to find love again with Helen Piovaty and spent his winters in Arizona & the Sonoran Desert until Helen’s passing.
Dave lived a full life, and in his words “was very successful in spite of being very shy and awkward as a child”. The fond memories of work and his career, family, friends, and travel kept him dreaming and planning right to the end. He will be remembered for his generosity, strong work ethic and keen sense of honesty and integrity. A great husband, father, grandfather, and a dear friend – he will be missed.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the DWAYNE D. BUDGELL Funeral Home. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dave’s memory made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (www.heartandstroke.ca/) would be appreciated by the family.
