Obituary for Danny Bailey
It is with great sadness that the family of Danny Gerard Bailey announces his passing at Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in his 79th year. Danny was a resident of Port Lambton, Ontario, who wintered in Steamboat Colorado and at the Stoneybrook Golf and Country Club in Sarasota Florida. Beloved husband of Mavis (Shepherd), loving father of Shona Outridge (Steve) and Megan Anderson (Rob) and cherished Grandpa of Shane (Clarice) and Nathan (Ella) Outridge and Brooke and Paige Anderson. He was predeceased by his brothers Anthony (Carol), David and Michael Bailey. Danny was a brilliant man who was the youngest to graduate as a Chartered Accountant in his year and at the same time receiving the Gold Medal for attaining the highest examination grades nationally. Danny was the founder of Bailey Kearney Ferguson Chartered Accountants in Wallaceburg and a founding member of the group of entrepreneurs responsible for building the Oaks Inn in Wallaceburg. He owned and operated long term care homes in Wallaceburg, Guelph and Tecumseh. He was a Rotarian and former Chairman of the St Clair Parkway Commission, responsible for creating the many parks along the river and building the marina in Sarnia. He was also an athlete, playing many sports for St. Michael’s College School in Toronto and later golfing, skiing, running and cycling. Danny was a generous, kind hearted, loving, genuine and inspirational man who left an impact on all who crossed his path. He had an incredible zest for life and his greatest love, pride and joy was his family and the precious time spent together. Due to Covid-19 concerns, a celebration of Danny’s life will be held at a later date. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the HAYCOCK-CAVANAGH FUNERAL HOME, 409 Nelson Street in Wallaceburg.
