COLUMBUS JEAN LOUISE nee JORDAN 2020

Passed away peacefully on Monday October 19, 2020 at the age of 92. Jean Columbus, of Elmvale, dear wife of the late Dan Columbus and the late Jerry Columbus. Cherished mother of Judy (Stu), Mark (Beulah), Bonnie (Donny) and the late Brenda (Gene). Loved grandmother of Carla (Aaron), Adam ( Shelly ), Gerard, Scott ( Karelyn ), Kathleen ( Jeff ) and Rachel. Loved great-grandmother of Damian, Jaden, Cadence, Alexis, Emma-Lee, and Emily. Jean will be fondly remembered by her sister Goldie (Tom), brother Nelson (Joyce), sister-in-law Donalda, as well as her many nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.
Jean was a proud member of the Catholic Women’s League for 68 years and was active in various aspects of church life at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. She had an amazing “green thumb” and grew an abundance of flowers and vegetables. Television viewing favourites included: Wheel of Fortune, baseball, curling and figure skating. She was renowned for her crocheting skills and her mastery of jigsaw puzzles. She was never happier than when she was in her kitchen baking tea biscuits, pies and prize-winning butter tarts which often made their way to the homes of others.
A private family funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Elmvale. Cremation to follow with burial at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Phelpston at a later date.
Memorial donations to The Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
