Obituary For Clyde “CJ” Edward Goodswimmer II
January 2, 1993 – December 5, 2020
It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our Clyde “CJ” Edward Goodswimmer II. CJ passed away in his home community in Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation on December 5, 2020 at the age of 27.
CJ was born on January 2, to Rebecca Gouchey and Clyde Goodswimmer as the New Year’s Baby of the Valleyview/Sturgeon Lake Area in 1993.
Our beloved CJ leaves behind in mourning his mother Rebecca (Gary) and father Clyde (Flora). His cherished children Myles, Davis and baby girl Lina, his Kookum Denise Gouchey, siblings Dawn, Logan (Sharla), Jaycee (Dillon), Cree, Keenan (Presley), Kaitlyn, Sydney, Clayson, Theo and Lakyn and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins.
CJ is predeceased by his grandparents Edward and Violet Goodswimmer, his grandfather Tommy Gouchey, big Brother Deiter Goodswimmer, uncle Walter Goodswimmer, aunt Evelyn Gouchey, niece Kawapun Pisim (When the Sun Comes Out) and his cousin David Mustus Jr.
CJ spent his childhood in Edmonton with his mother and as a teenager he moved to Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation with his father and Flo. CJ had a love for music, his favourite artist was Eminem and he did not like anything country. He loved to be involved in organizing sport activities and he was the biggest fan and supporter of his siblings and their athletic endeavors. His favourite season was hockey season and the Alberta Native Hockey Provincials was something that he looked forward to every year. He volunteered every chance he could. Although he always said the hours were long and the work could be tedious at times, he much appreciated meeting new friends, the comradery of the volunteer’s unit and being a part of the event.
CJ was the nicest and most caring man; he was the type of person that would literally give you the shirt off his back and the shoes off his feet, which his parents know all too well from the various coats and shoes they bought him over the years.
He was a generous and loyal friend, but his greatest life achievement was being a father to his children.
