Charles Robert ‘Charlie’ Dixon 19632020

Charles Robert ‘Charlie’ Dixon
1963-2020
DIXON Jr., Charles Robert
“Charlie” – Age 56, of Whycocomagh
and formerly of Point Tupper passed away suddenly in a motorcycle
accident on Monday, August 10, 2020. Born on December 26, 1963, he was
a son of the late Charles Robert Sr. and Ruby Roseanna (Hayes)
Dixon.
Charlie was a long-serving Intermediate Care Paramedic,
beginning his Paramedic career with Dennis Haverstock Ambulance
Service in 1988 and continued to work there until EHS took over
ambulance services in 1996 and recently received his EHS 30 years of
service recognition in May 2019. Charlie worked at many stations
throughout Cape Breton over the years and was a well and highly
respected clinician, helping countless patients throughout his career.
His kind and caring manner made him the paramedic that he was. Charlie
also volunteered in his community, supporting food and toy drives
during the holiday seasons. Always the life of the party, Charlie
loved to always have a good time and laughs with family and friends
alike. He was a loving brother, uncle, brother-in-law, colleague and
friend who we will all miss terribly. He left a mark on all of us that
we will never forget.
Surviving are his sisters, Alice (Danny) MacIntosh, Eileen
Dixon, Angela (Paul) LeBlanc; brothers, Simon (Jo-Anne
O’Neill), Clyde (Angela Usher); special friend, Wendy Dixon;
best friend and travelling buddy, Craig MacLean; former wife and
friend, Angela Hatcher; special pet, Muffy; many nieces and nephews
and all of his EHS family. Besides his parents, Charlie was
predeceased by his niece, Tanya MacIntosh; as well as all his maternal
and paternal aunts and uncles and grandparents.
Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held
on Saturday, August 15 at 11 a.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home,
724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards
officiating. In keeping with COVID-19 and social distancing rules,
