Charlena Willetta Murphy Tuesday January 14th 2020

Murphy, Charlena Willetta, Age 94 of Pubnico Head, passed away peacefully at home on January 14,2020. She was born August 5,1925 in Pubnico Head to the late James and Carrie (Goodwin) Murphy. After graduation she moved to Halifax for work, first at Sears, then to join the Canadian Armed Forces Reserves. In 1961 she started working at DND Dockyard in Halifax until her retirement in 1983. Before her retirement she would drive the long distance on weekends from Halifax to Pubnico Head to spend time with her parents and sister Isabel. She enjoyed doing crafts well into her 80’s, traveling to many craft sales around Nova Scotia with Lottie and Stan. She also enjoyed doing her cryptograms, painting, mowing her lawn, going to eat and going for coffee at Tim Hortons. She is survived by her sister, Lottie Nickerson, Pubnico Head; and sister in law, Dorothy Murphy, Ottawa; many nieces, nephews; her five faithful friends, Bev Paonessa (Cousin); Carol Comeau; Claudia Lennox; Myrtle Magennis , and Verna Goodwin. She was predeceased by her siblings, Cecil; Douglas: James; Eric; Isabel; Hope; three siblings in infancy. She was the oldest living resident in Pubnico Head and will be laid to rest in Laurel Hill Cemetery in the spring. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Memorial donations may be made to the IWK or charity of your choice.
