Carl was born in Halifax to Charles and Thelma (Merson) Trider on December 14th, 1948. He graduated from Dartmouth High School then attended Dalhousie University where he graduated in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy. After graduation he worked at Woodlawn Pharmacy and Shoppers Drug Mart, before becoming owner of Windsor Prescription Centre (formerly Dimock’s Pharmacy). He was an avid supporter of independent business and one of the first pharmacies to join Pharmasave Atlantic in 1988 serving on the Board and various committees over the years. He was a respected businessman in Windsor for 30 years, also owning pharmacies in New Minas, Lower Sackville, Dartmouth and Halifax. As a father he enjoyed cherished family time at the cottage on Piggott Lake and sharing his love of golf with his sons. Retiring in 2009, he was able to spend time golfing and travelling with Heather, enjoying time in Florida for the past 10 winters. In 2019, Carl fulfilled his dream of attending the Masters golf tournament and walking the grounds of Augusta National. He was a long-time member of Avon Valley Golf and Country Club where he enjoyed weekly men’s night and the many friendships he formed on the course.
