Burke’s Obituary
Burke William Harris age 68, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020, surrounded by those he loved. Burke was born April 11, 1952 to Norma and William Harris of Jordan Falls, NS. Burke worked all his life as an owner/operator of Burke Harris Trucking in Jordan Falls. He worked and helped his brother Billy with trucking and recently transporting lobsters to/from Halifax Airport. For over 30 years he volunteered his time with the Shelburne Co. Exhibition, a task he held dear. In later years he offered his assistance to the Barrington Exhibition. Burke was a long-standing member of the Jordan Falls IOOF #154, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #63, and a volunteer member of the Jordan Falls Volunteer Fire Department. He was a 22 year Master Mason of the Albert Lodge #30, serving as Master 2005-2006.
Burke loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by Edith mother of his children; sons Colin (Gillian) and Tyler (Denna); grandchildren Delana, Evan, Destiny; step grandchildren Alex and Gabriela Hemeon; brothers William “Billy” Harris (Sherri), Donald Harris, and Beverly Nickerson; partner Sheila Doane; stepchildren Matthew Doane (Christine), Marina Simba (Benjamin), and Mark Doane (Lynsay); and step grandchildren Alexander, Elizabeth, Austin, Abigail, and Lucas.
There will be a funeral service held Thursday, December 31st at 2:00pm, in H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. Committal will be held at the Anglican Cemetery, Jordan Branch Rd. In keeping with Covid-19 regulations seating will be given preference to family first and social distancing measures will be in place. In lieu of flowers, donations in Burke’s name may be made to the Anglican Cemetery, Jordan Branch Rd.
