In Loving memory of Avelino Pierobon
87 Years
April 9th 1933 – June 2nd 2020
It is with great sadness that we announce that on June 2nd, 2020, Avelino Pierobon (also known lovingly as “Dino” and “Evelino” to his family and friends) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old. Avelino was born on April 9th 1933 in San Martino di Luperi, Italy. He immigrated to Canada in 1960 and eventually settled in Sudbury to build a life for himself. He married the love of his life Carmela (nee Dominelli) in April 1964 and they shared 56 years of happiness together. He was a wonderful father to Christina and David and a beloved Nonno to Mia and Eva Maurice. In addition to his immediate family he was a loving son to Giuseppe and Lucia (nee Zorzi) predeceased. Dear brother of Giannino predeceased (wife Premizia) of Italy, Angelo predeceased (wife Bruna) of Sudbury, Elio (wife Josephine predeceased) of Thorold, Maria Troietto (husband Elio predeceased) of Hamilton, Carla Stradiotto (husband Tarcisio), Teresa Ongaro (husband John predeceased), Alfredo (wife Lisa), Romano (wife Maruccia) all of Sudbury and sister Angelina (predeceased). He will be sadly missed by nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Avelino worked for years at Inco and Cecchetto and Sons. He eventually went to work for his brother Romano and brother in law Tarcizio at Imperial Auto Body in the late 1960s. He spent many years as a body man and sandblaster. He did many car deliveries throughout the North. Avelino was a great provider who worked tirelessly to support his family. Avelino had a handful of passions. He loved spending time in his garden. He enjoyed playing soccer in his younger days and it became an enjoyment to watch on television. He loved watching his Italian programming on TLN and Rai. Bocce was a wonderful pastime for him. He spend many nights at the Gatchell Bocce courts with his friends. Avelino enjoyed making his own wine. He was a lifetime member of the Caruso Club where he would frequently play cards. He was a devoted Catholic and spend many years as a Lay Minister for St Anthony’s Parish. He will be remembered by his sense of humour and love for life.
