Poulette, Alexander James, age 49, of Paqtnkek
Mi’kmaw Nation passed away on January 16, 2020, in St.
Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of Jessie Denny and the late
William Poulette.
Alex was a family person, and he especially loved his kids
and his grandson. He fished lobster and snow crab.
Alex was a talented drummer and musician in general, and he was known
for his sense of humour. He was an animal lover, especially
his cat, Sherkhan, and his dog, Memo.
Besides his mother, he is survived by his children, Jocelynn
(Seth), Iowa; Alex Jr. (Kayla), Paqtnkek; Marcus, Paqtnkek; Zachary,
Whycocomagh; Alannah (Alejandro), Paqtnkek; and John, Paqtnkek;
grandson, Michael; siblings, Mary Catherine, Paqtnkek; Mary Isabel
(Mike), Paqtnkek; Levi (Terry), Paqtnkek; Glenn (Tanya), Membertou;
and Josie, Paqtnkek; godchildren, Darcy and Santana; godmother, Mary
Freda Simmons; many nieces and nephews; and Band Brothers, Chris
Smith, Jason Currie, Sandy Ehler, Brian Pottie, Jamie MacKay, John
O’Brien, Greg Benoit, and Brian Steeves.
Besides his father, he is predeceased by siblings, Billy,
Diane, Cecilia, and Richard, niece, Melissa Johnson; nephew, Stephen
Sylliboy; and godfather, Dan Joe Prosper.
Visitation will be held Monday after 4:00pm in the Paqtnkek
Community Gymnasium. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11:00am in
Immaculate Conception Church, Heatherton. Burial to follow
in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Summerside Road.
