It is with great sadness that the family of Alain Gaudet announce his peaceful passing on Friday, December 25. (January 9, 1943 – December 25, 2020.) Alain is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Evelyn Cousin, his three children Keith (Joanne), Janine (Marc), and Terry (Kathy) as well as his many cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. Alain was known throughout his life to be a man of many strengths. He was an Instrument Mechanic by trade but a master electrician, carpenter, mechanic, financial analyst, and above all a passionate farmer. Alain farmed all his life and is most proud of having farmed land that belonged to his ancestors. He was a tireless worker who was always in search of the next challenging project. There just did not seem anything that he could not do, from overhauling engines and refurbishing his beloved Farmalls to desert landscaping his winter home in Palm Springs, to the recent construction of a new home in Bellevue, Alain was always busy. He was ever supportive of all his children’s initiatives and was intensely proud of what they accomplished. They are truly grateful to him and know he was instrumental in their successes. A great joy in his life was all the time he spent with his grandchildren throughout their formative years. They all have so many fond memories of him. He loved to rock them to sleep, to show them card games such as Casino Voleur, take them on road trips, teach them all manner of life lessons. If one was around, he could be heard to say – viens voir Pépère. They are all so grateful to have had him in their lives. He was fortunate to have done much of the same with the great grandchildren who coloured his life with joy. The immediate family will celebrate Alain’s life with a Mass of Christian burial on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St-Isidore Church in Bellevue. Prayers will be by invitation only. There will be a public visitation at the St.-Isidore Church on Wednesday December 30 from 5-6:45. Donations in memory of Alain may be directed to the Bellevue Care Home.
