1921 – 2019
C’est avec le coeur lourd que nous annonçons le décès de notre mère Thérèse (Gaboriaud) Bourrier le 15 décembre 2019 au Foyer Notre-Dame.
Thérèse est née le 6 août 1921 à Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Elle était la 4e d’une famille de 5. L’a précédé dans la mort son époux bien- aimé de 45 ans, Marc, en 1986. L’ont aussi précédé son père Hilaire et sa mère Berthe nés en France, son frère Henri Gaboriaud et son épouse Valerie, ses deux demi-frères, Eugène et Gabriel Coutant, sa demi-soeur Madeleine (Gaborieau), son fils André, sa bru Estelle (née Ross), sa petite-fille Linda Bourrier et son arrière petit-fils Stéphane Cormier.
Elle laisse dans le deuil quatre enfants : René (Marie Lussier), Donald (Muriel Bérard), Norman (Lilliane Augert) et Paulette (Denis Vincent) ainsi que sa bru Christiane (Chabbert). Les 11 petits enfants se souviendront longtemps de leur grand-mère: Rhéal (Lynne), Patricia (Gerry), Nicole, Lise (Marc), Gisèle (Tony), Nadine (Jeff), Michelle (Tasha), Joel (Geneviève), Janelle, Linette (Paul) et Serge (Theresa) ainsi que 17 arrière petits-enfants. Elle laisse aussi dans le deuil sa belle-soeur Béatrice (Denis Weicker) de Winnipeg.
Thérèse et Marc ont élevé leur famille sur la ferme à St. Lupicin. Thérèse travaillait très fort; elle passait ses journées à prendre soin des cinq enfants, maintenir un grand jardin, traire les vaches, cuire du pain, embouteiller son vin aux pissenlits, etc. Elle accomplissait toutes ses tâches en chantonnant les petites chansons apprises durant sa jeunesse. Après vingt huit ans sur la ferme, Thérèse et Marc ont pris leur retraite à Lourdes.
Durant ses années à St. Lupicin, Thérèse aimait beaucoup participer aux activités communautaires telles que les parties de cartes, le conseil des Dames de Ste. Anne et l’entretient de l’Église. Elle était souvent demandée à chanter aux noces célébrées dans l’Église de St. Lupicin et on pouvait l’entendre pratiquer l’Avé Maria de loin. Elle adorait faire du curling, un sport qu’elle suivit à la télé pendant plusieurs années.
Une fois déménagée à Lourdes, elle s’est jointe aux Filles d’Isabelle et a travaillé au Foyer où elle a su égayer les résidents avec diverses activités jusqu’à sa retraite à l’âge de 65. Depuis le mois de mars 2007, c’est elle qui bénéficiait de ce programme, étant elle-même résidente au Foyer.
Au revoir Mom, grand-mère et arrière grand-mère. Nous t’aimons beaucoup.
La messe des funérailles, présidée par l’abbé Alain Guenou, aura lieu le samedi 21 décembre 2019 à 14h00 en l’église de Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes. Les prières et une vidéo précèderont la messe à 13h30.
La famille désire remercier le personnel du Foyer Notre-Dame pour les soins excellents accordés à Mom. Un don peut être fait envers le projet pour le nouvel hôpital à la Fondation Santé Notre-Dame Health Foundation, C.P. 190, Notre-Dame-de-Lourdes, MB, R0G 1M0.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother Thérèse (Gaboriaud) Bourrier at the Foyer Notre-Dame on December 15, 2019.
Thérèse was born on August 6, 1921 in Notre-Dame de Lourdes. She was the fourth of a family of five. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 45 years, Marc, in 1986 as well as her father Hilaire and her mother Berthe both born in France, her brother Henri Gaboriaud and his wife Valerie, two half brothers, Eugène and Gabriel Coutant, a half sister Madeleine (Gaborieau), her son André, her daughter-in-law Estelle (née Ross), her grand-daughter, Linda Bourrier and her great grandson Stéphane Cormier.
She leaves to mourn her passing four children: René (Marie Lussier), Donald (Muriel Bérard), Norman (Lilliane Augert) and Paulette (Denis Vincent) as well as her daughter in law Christiane (Chabbert). She will forever be remembered by her 11 grandchildren: Rhéal (Lynne), Patricia (Gerry), Nicole, Lise (Marc), Gisèle (Tony), Nadine (Jeff), Michelle (Tasha), Joel (Geneviève), Janelle, Linette (Paul) and Serge (Theresa) as well as 17 great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her sister in law Béatrice (Denis Weicker) from Winnipeg.
Thérèse and Marc raised their family on the farm in St. Lupicin. Thérèse was a hard worker and spent her days taking care of the five children, maintaining a large garden, milking the cows, baking bread, bottling her dandelion wine, etc. She could always be heard humming little tunes that she learned in her youth. After twenty eight years on the farm, Thérèse and Marc retired in Notre-Dame.
During her years in St. Lupicin, Thérèse enjoyed participating in community activities such as card parties, the Ladies of Ste. Anne, and the church maintenance. She was often asked to sing at weddings held in the St. Lucipin church and she could be heard practicing the Ave Maria from a distance. Once the children were older she took up curling, a sport that she followed on TV for many years.
Once moved to Notre-Dame, she joined the Daughters of Isabella and worked at the Foyer Notre-Dame as an activity worker where she entertained the residents until her retirement at age 65. Since March 2007, it is she who benefited from this program as a resident of the Foyer.
Goodbye Mom, grand-mère and arrière grand-mère. We will miss you dearly.
Father Alain Guenou will officiate the funeral mass at the Notre-Dame Roman Catholic Church on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at 2:00 pm. Prayers and a video tribute will precede the Mass at 1:30 pm.
The family would like to thank the staff of the Foyer Notre-Dame for the excellent care provided to Mom.
