It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Rick McCaig (Popadynec). Rick was born in Saskatoon on Nov 11, 1954. He passed from this life on Dec 12, 2019 from heart complications at the age of 65.
Rick was born to Joseph and Millie Popadynec (McCaig). He lived his early years on 3rdAve moving to Ave Y in his teens. He was an avid sports guy playing basketball, hockey and softball. He met Laurette while playing for the Prud’homme Wheatkings. Rick enjoyed camping, the sun and sand of Mexico, golfing, volunteering, and hanging out with his extended family.
Rick was pre-deceased by his oldest son Gordie McCaig, biological father Joe Popadynec, his parents Bill and Millie McCaig, his mother-in-law Florence Labrecque, and his two favourite little buddies Rascal and Nikko.
Left to mourn and cherish his memory are Laurette, his loving wife of 40 years, his sons, Kelly and Scott, his daughter in -law Ismini and his grandson Vasilios; father-in-law Alfred (Carol) Labrecque; siblings Kim (Deborah), Ian (Gina), Val, Deb; in-laws Pauline (Doug); Ilda (Reg); Therese (Rick); Helen (James); and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, co-workers, as well as those lives he touched.
