Kathryn’s Obituary
Ross, Kathryn Ann – 65. It is with heavy hearts, accompanied by wine and laughter, we announce that on December 12, 2019, the passing of our beloved mother, wife and partner, grandmother, cat person, and fruitcake aficionado, Kathryn Ross (nee Covey). Born March 9, 1954, Kathryn loved animals, nature, adventure, and spending time with friends and good food. Known throughout most of the south shore Nova Scotia through her time as a waitress in Shelburne, her 16 plus years as a vet assistant at the Jordan Vet Clinic, and several years at Lockeport Clearwater. People would come to the clinic to see her as much as for treatment for their pets. She absolutely adored every person and animal that she ever met, from her home here to her beloved second home of Cuba. It was a perfect day for her if she were to spend it in the woods, with a fishing rod, or just looking at birds and flowers. She was always up for a new adventure, and only sometimes took a little coaxing if there was any chance of heights or rodents. Promise of food or wine was usually a good way to coax her. It is very unlikely that anyone who had ever met her didn’t instantly love her and find her smile infectious. She made a litany of friends everywhere she went. She is survived by Peg, Dora, and Buffy, as well as some humans; Roger Chant, her partner of 35 years, her children Patrick (Tammi), Denise, grandchildren Riley, and Madelyn, brothers Glen (Kim), and Peter (Cathy), stepchildren Fonia, and Troy, nieces and nephews and the bazillion members of the fantastic Chant family, stepbrothers and sisters Wayne, Gordon, Carole, Marilyn, and Beatti. Predeceased by Hod (Horace), and Elizabeth (Betty) Covey, stepmother Pauline Williams, and stepsister Lorraine. A visitation will be held at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home in Shelburne on Monday, December 16 at 6:30 – 9 pm. Funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 17 at 2 pm. Reception to be held at the Lower Ohio Community Hall following.
