Richmond, Joan Patience
On Monday, December 23, 2019 Joan passed away peacefully at Hospice Prince Edward at the age of 95 years. Joan, aka G.G. or Nanoo as her grandchildren called her will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Robert (Denise) and James (Meredith Ware) and the late Pamela, as well as her grandchildren Erin (Trevor), Lyndsay (Dan), Brendan, Kyle, Jenna (Jay) and Christian (Vanessa) and her great grandchildren who adored her. Memories of Joan will be forever cherished by her numerous extended family and friends.
Joan lived a truly full life, immigrating to Canada as a child from England and growing up as the youngest of four in Toronto. She was stationed at Mountainview Air Base during WW11 and made many friends whom she still corresponded with for over 50 years. She worked for the Toronto Police Department for many years and retired an honorary member of the Toronto Police Association.
Joan moved to Prince Edward County to be closer to her family and quickly settled into more relaxed lifestyle. She loved playing bridge, painting, travelling, meeting friends for coffee and especially sitting by Wellington beach while doing her crossword puzzles. Joan had a great love of sports, with hockey and baseball being her favourites and could recite every player and score of each game. Joan never failed to light up the room with her flare for clothing and jewelry. She truly was one of a kind and will be missed by all who knew her and loved her vibrancy.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Burke, nurses Dana, Sherri, Annie and BJ, the Wellington Pharmacy, Community Care for Seniors and the excellent staff of Hospice Prince Edward for their constant and compassionate care. A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring of 2020.
