Memorial Donation
Gillian Van Zant (“Mrs. V”)
May 11, 1947 – December 25, 2019
With her family by her side, Gillian passed away peacefully on Christmas morning at age 72. Born in London, England, Gillian traveled the world and had called Canada her home since 1967. Gillian was loving mother to Deborah (Peter), sister to Sandra (Peter), aunt to Darach (Raneen) and Abigail (Dan), and Auntie Gilly Cakes to Stanley, Anya and Louis. Gillian’s passion for life, travel, nature, music, cooking and gardening were shared with many friends and family. Gillian was also a committed volunteer who shared her time with several organizations that benefited from her kindness and spirit.
Those who were fortunate to know her were blessed with a caring word and encouragement whenever they needed it. Gillian was a second mom to many, always generous with her home, her humour and her gentle support. She fought her battle with cancer the way she lived her life: with grace, dignity and optimism.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a celebration of Gillian’s life, to be held on Saturday, January 11th at Kopriva Taylor Funeral Home (64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville), from 2-5 pm. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Ian Anderson House or The Salvation Army.
