Cann, George Clarence “Clarie”
Born on February 19, 1923 in Wellington, Yarmouth Co., to the late Gladys (Durkee) and G. Leslie Cann, he passed away peacefully on November 3, 2019, aged 96, in the presence of his loving family at Wynn Park Villa in Truro, NS.
Clarie was predeceased by his wife of 68 years, Mary (Warner). Clarie is survived by his sister, Evelyn; his two daughters, Jane and Mary Ellen; two grandsons, Nathan and Alexander; two granddaughters, Kimberly and Brettany and two great grandsons, Nic and Nolan.
Clarie was employed with Chrysler Canada in both Truro, NS and Moncton, NB, travelling extensively in the Atlantic Provinces. After an early retirement, Clarie and Mary moved back to Truro which became their centre for travels to Cuba, Spain and Florida, as well as many points in Canada.
Clarie was a member of Diamond Lodge #51 IODF of Yarmouth, Fellowship Lodge #112 A.F. and A.M., and the Golden K Club of Truro.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wynn Park Villa who took such wonderful and loving care of Clarie and Mary and always made the family feel welcome. Everyone who met Clarie saw his kind and gentle nature and he made close friends with many of the residents at the Villa.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, N.S. Cremation has taken place. No memorial service will be held by request. Burial will take place in Bible Hill Cemetery at a later date. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in which Clarie took an active interest.
