1945-2019
Fukuo Fred Watanabe,
of Riverview, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on
Dec.30 at the age of 74. He was the son of the late Suejyu and Misa
Watanabe.
Fred was born in
Itabashi, Japan in 1945 where he completed his schooling at Oji
Technical High School. He immigrated to North America in 1967 and
permanently settled in Moncton in 1971 where he met and fell in love
with his wife, Marie. He was an Electronic Technologist having worked
at Nav Canada for 31 years until his retirement at the age of
61.
Fred loved to golf
and in the last 5 years, he scored two hole-in-ones and an albatross.
He was also very active in his community through Badminton &
Pickleball.
Above all else, Fred
was most passionate about his family. He will be lovingly remembered
by his wife of 48 years, Marie; his son Akio; his daughter Misa and
her husband James; his son Koji & his wife Alys; his daughter
Toshiko and her husband Licio; and his six grandchildren: Evan, Avery,
Lyriel, Cadence, Alessio & Amelia.
In celebration of
his life, a memorial service will be held at Tuttle Brothers &
Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview on Jan. 2nd
between 2-4pm and 6-8pm with an opening eulogy at
6:30pm.
Donations in Fred’s
memory made to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by his
family.
