It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Elsie Pekrul on December 16, 2019 at the age of 93 years. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, son Wayne and brother Ernie.
Elsie was born in Portland, Oregon in 1926. Her family then moved to Chicago in search of work. After all opportunities dried up, they made the long journey to Saskatchewan where they stayed on a farm near Lipton, and eventually settled down in the small town of Lemberg, where Elsie remained. She met her future husband at a barn dance and, from that moment, they were inseparable. They were married after Jack returned from the war, started their family and built their home on Martin Street in Lemberg.
Elsie was very passionate about sports (being a genuine tomboy back in the day); she played any and all that were available to her. She loved her family and friends unconditionally and supported her community every way she could.
Left to cherish her memory are: her son, Terry (Darlene); daughter Cynthia; grandchildren Bryce (Carrie-Ann), Breanne (Chad), Tyler and Branden; great-grandchildren Traeton, Walker and Casey; brother Ervin (Dorothy); brother-in-law Len (Ruth); sisters-in-law Dorothea, Ida and Pearl; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends.
A celebration of Elsie’s life will be held in the Spring of 2020. Please watch this website for details.

  1. What fond memories I have of time spent with Elsie and Jack. From a child, your parental home was one where our large family was invited for a meal and games. Your parents were always so gracious to us. Weekly Sunday morning cream deliveries to your parental home were always met with a smiling Elsie. In employment days in Lemberg, I frequently had opportunity to give and receive a hug from Mom and even into her days in BECH, Balcarres, were always met with a big smile and catching up on what all the sisters were doing, besides Dad. Lovely memories of a seemingly always smiling lady. Our condolences on her passing Terry/Darlene, Cindy, and families. Sandy
