Patton, Elmer Henry – 79, Truro, passed away with his family surrounding him on Saturday, December 28, 2019 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in New Glasgow, he was a son of the late Elmer and Mabel (MacKenzie) Patton. Elmer grew up in Pictou County and then lived for many years in Lower Truro. He worked in industrial sales, enjoying many trips and work friendships over the years. He was an avid sunflower and potato gardener in the summer and Penguins hockey supporter in the winter. Frequent family trips were a big part of life as his children grew up. Dad and Grampa was always a big supporter of his children and grandchildren’s accomplishments in the rink, field and gym, cheering them on from the sidelines. His favourite pastimes included ice skating, playing crib, walking and brushing his grand-dogs and toe-tapping and humming to his favorite tunes. Elmer was a summer resident and campfire expert of Seafoam Campground for over 25 years and established many longtime friendships as a member of the Truro Gyro Club for over 40 years. Elmer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol; daughter, Allison (Derrick); sons, Chris (Alyson) and Scott (Maggie); grandchildren, Alec and Ainsley; brother, John; sisters, Sharon and Bonnie and several nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Clarence. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro, N.S. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, January 3rd at 2 p.m. in the First United Church, 711 Prince Street, Truro, with a reception to follow.
