Obituary of M. Eileen Snyder
The family of M. Eileen Snyder announces her peaceful passing, which occurred on Monday, December 16, 2019 at Bobby’s Hospice. Born in Saint John on July 30, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Sophia (McPhee) Martin.
Eileen had a heart of gold and and a smile that would light up your life. She devoted her life to caring for all living things. In addition to being an amazing wife and mother, she enjoyed 43 years working as a Registered Nurse. Following her graduation from nursing school in 1951, she shared her expertise in several hospitals, nursing homes and special care homes. She returned to Saint John with her family in 1966, and had patients in her home for a time before dedicating herself to St. Joseph’s Hospital until her retirement. Her nurturing spirit extended to her love of animals, and she would always have food for any deer or chipmunk in her yard. Her priority was her family.
Eileen will be missed by her children, Vicky Fanjoy (Norman) and Ira Snyder (Nina); her grandchildren, Trinda McAulduf, Taryn Moorehouse-Andrews, Sara Oulette and Nik Snyder; several great-grandchildren; her sister Theresa Killen (the late Raymond); many nieces and nephews; and her husband, John R. Snyder of 62 years.
In addition to her parents, Eileen was predeceased by numerous brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are under the care of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). A private service will be held for family at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to the Bobby’s Hospice. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
