It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Cornelius (Con) Bernard Chaisson announces his passing at the Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre in Port aux Basques, NL on Saturday, November 30th, 2019 at the age of 73 years. Born in Millertown Junction, NL, Con was the son of the late Cornelius and Mary Edith Chaisson (nee Green). He was also predeceased by his brothers; Peter, Paul, James, David, sister; Mary Chaisson, brothers in law; Wayne Wheeler, Roger Ryan, and Mickey Ryan.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his brothers and sisters: Cecilia Ryan, Susan Teresa Ryan both of O’Regan’s, NL, Terrance (Terry) Chaisson, Morris Chaisson, Brian Chaisson all of Tompkins, NL, Karen (Dan) Rixon of Port aux Basques, NL, Wanda Wheeler of Port au Port East, NL, Joseph (Judy) Chaisson of Dartmouth, NS, Valerie (Leslie) Gerein of Fort McMurray, AB, Julia (Kevin) Lannigan of St. John’s, NL. He also leaves behind a large circle of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends.
Con was employed by the Canadian National Railway where he served 35 years of service. While he was employed with Canadian National Railway he worked in Newfoundland then moved to Nova Scotia in 1988 from there he continued working in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Quebec. Con where he has been happily retired in 2002 and moved back home in Tompkins.
Visitation will take place on Monday, December 2nd from 2-4 and 7-9 pm and on Tuesday, December 3rd from 2-4 with a wake service beginning at 7 pm and visitation until 9 pm at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church in Upper Ferry, NL from where the Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, December 4th at 11 am officiated by Father Lee Lainey, interment to follow at Mount St. Thomas Cemetery, Great Codroy, NL. Flowers are graciously accepted or donations in Con’s memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Dr. Charles L LeGrow Health Centre or to the charity of one’s choice.
