Andrew’s Obituary
HOPKINS, Andrew Clayton “Andy” ~ Age 78, of Waterville, Kings Co. It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a loyal husband and beloved father, Andrew Clayton Hopkins, on Christmas morning, Wednesday, December 25, 2019. He will be remembered for his humour and passion for life. Andrew was born in Bear Point, Nova Scotia on October 29, 1941, to the late Clifford and Susan (Sears) Hopkins. He was predeceased by his parents. Andrew is survived by his wife, the former Nancy Elaine Crowell; his daughter Melody Anne Hopkins; his sister, Elizabeth Halliday; his brother, Michael Hopkins, and several nieces and nephews. Andy was employed at the Berwick Register for the first 15 years of his married life after which he worked at Larsen Packers until the age of retirement. He was a long standing member of the Weston Christian Fellowship church. Andy was a dedicated and loving husband to Nancy and was an exceptional and beloved father to Melody. He enjoyed a number of pursuits in life: wood-working, curling and his family. Andy was very fond of his time at the Halifax Deaf School where he made many lifelong friends. He was an avid member of the deaf community. Perhaps his greatest contribution was bringing provincial and national attention to Nova Scotia Deaf sports. Andy was inducted to the Berwick Sports Hall of Fame in 2009. All are welcome to come to a service to help the family celebrate Andy’s life at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 31, in Weston Christian Fellowship Church, 3611 Brooklyn Street, Weston. Pastor David Hanson officiating, with a reception to follow. Interment will be in Waterville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada. Arrangements have been entrusted to Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448. Online guestbook may be signed by visiting: www.middletonfuneralhome.com
