Obituary
With hearts full of sadness, the family of William Frasier MacEwen announces his passing following a battle with dementia. Will passed at St Joseph’s Hospital on Friday, November 22, 2019 under the nurturing care of the CAM Unit Staff.
Will began his career as a human service counsellor in the 1980’s and moved into education assisting in the ASD-S school system during the 90’s, working with elementary school students before moving onto Simonds High School where he retired.
Will was a huge advocate for the children in his care, he gave them a voice when no one else could. Even after switching to the school system, Will maintained the friendships with those he cared for. Will was generous in all aspects of life, beginning in the Divorce Care support service with the Kings Valley Wesleyan Church and offering a shoulder for anyone who needed it.
Will had an incredible talent for music; singing and song writing and an uncanny ability to play any instrument he wanted. Will would bring his guitar to all events and played with King’s Ransom making lifelong friends through their musical worship. To know Will was to know laughter, his humour shone through until the end. He was always ready with a joke, and his quick wit was unmatched.
Will was very proud of his Scottish heritage and loved making the journey across the pond. The pride and joy of Wills life was becoming a grandfather and will be greatly missed by Landen and Kayla (Erb) especially dancing while grampy played his music for them.
Will is predeceased by his parents, Laurena (Frasier) and Walter MacEwen and his sister, Joanne (Big Jo) Carroll.
He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Darlene and his children whom he adored, Vanessa (Krue Creamer) and Jesse, and his fur baby Daisy. Sisters; Judy (Nelson) McCavour, Janice MacEwen, Cathy (Paul Weaver) MacEwen, sister-in-law Linda Ladouceur (Dan) and his favourite aunt Dena Miller. Nieces and Nephews, Little Jo, Joel, Katie, Chelsey and Jeremy. Numerous cousins, a great niece and a great nephew, and many friends.
The family would like to give a special thank you to cousins Donna and Terry for their support through his journey and the staff at St. Joseph’s CAM Unit for their excellent and kind care to Will.
Resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8. Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday at 2:00PM from the Fundy Chapel.
