Hayes, Valerie “Val” (nee Deacon)
Died suddenly on November 16, 2019 in Ottawa. She was 67.
Valerie was born on March 12, 1952 in Ottawa, to her parents, John and Dorothy Deacon. She married Paul Hayes in 1973.
Valerie was a loving mother and caring wife. She was a consummate animal lover and loved her time camping in Algonquin Park. Walking her dogs was one of her biggest joys, as was tending to her garden and its many furry visitors. Her love of trivia and competitive spirit brought friends and family together for many fun events.
She is survived by her husband Paul, sister Janis (husband Terry) brother Chris (Wife Micheline) sons David (wife Marcie) and Drew (Mariela), 3 grand children and 12 nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased in death by her sister Shirley, parents John and Dorothy Deacon.
Family and friends may visit at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 150 Woodroffe Ave. (at Richmond Rd.) Ottawa on Friday November 22 from 7-9 pm where a Celebration of Val’s life will take place in the Chapel on Saturday November 23 at 3:00 pm with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to your local women’s shelter or animal rescue.
