Obituary of Sadie Kennedy
Sadie Kennedy, aged 103, of Antigonish, formerly of Lakevale, died peacefully in St. Martha’s Regional Hosptial, Antigonish, on Thursday, November 21, 2019.
Born in North Lakevale she was a daughter of the late John J. and Isabel (Forbes) MacGillivray.
Sadie was a woman of strong faith, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In her early years she was very active in Lakevale community activities. Sadie was most recently a resident of Whidden’s Park. The family is grateful to neighbours and friends who would visit, share stories and tea.
She is survived by children, Allan (Judy), Truro; Colin (Diane), Antigonish; Marian, Halifax; grandchildren, Sarah (Joey) Deveau, Allison (Michael), Rhonda, Robert, Matthew (Jana), Ian (Christie); great-grandchildren, Cassie, Winston, George Allan and Hazel Deveau; Lucas and Evan Kennedy, sister, Helen Toth and brother, Forbes (Chris) MacGillivary. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ronald (1986), daughter, Katherine Kennedy (1993), sisters, Anne Roach, Kathleen MacDonald, Florence Grant and Mary; brothers, John A., Roderick and Colin.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 in MacIsaac Funeral Home, 61 Pleasant St., Antigonish. Funeral Tuesday, 10 am November 26 in St. Columba Church, Lakevale with Rev. Andrew Boyd presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcome to a charity of choice. www.MacIsaacs.ca
