The Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist was very special to Sadie. The visits, thoughts and prayers of the clergy and congregation were a great comfort.
Sadie was born on Sagona Island, Fortune Bay. After completing high school and teacher training, she taught for 5 years, which brought her to many communities in Newfoundland, one of which was Tack’s Beach, Placentia Bay, where she met her future husband Wilfred. They married in 1949, lived in Harbour Grace from 1951 to 1954 and eventually returned to St. John’s where they raised their family. After her family was grown, Sadie enjoyed working for 10 years with the Gosling Memorial Library.
Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held at Carnell’s Memorial Chapel on Freshwater Rd. Tuesday, November 5th from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
A Service of Remembrance and Thanksgiving for Sadie’s life will be held at the Anglican Cathedral of St. John the Baptist on Wednesday, November 6th, 2019 at 2 p.m. with internment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
