Death Notice
CARR, Richard Henry – Richard (Dick) Henry Carr passed away peacefully in his 95th year at Parkwood Institute Veterans Care, London on Saturday, November 2nd, 2019. Beloved husband of 70 years of Barbara Kathryn Carr. Dear father of Dean (Dorothy), Richard (Kristine) both of Stratford and Christopher (Jinhui) of Etobicoke. Grandfather to Daniel and Kristen and great great grandfather to Ari. Brother to Lynne Acton (Allan) of Niagara Falls. Richard is predeceased by brothers Don, Jim, Victor and Herb. Richard was born in Welland on April 18th, 1925 and grew up in St Catharines. In WWII Richard served overseas in the Royal Canadian Air Force. Richard retired many years ago from the Ontario Ministry of Industry and Trade. He held postings in New York City and Atlanta, GA before returning to Toronto and then retiring in London. Richard’s greatest loves were spending time with family and travelling the globe with Barbara. They enjoyed many adventures traveling together throughout the years. Italy was their favourite. Richard also enjoyed painting as a hobby and was a talented artist.
The family extends their gratitude to St Joseph’s Health Care, Parkwood Institute Veterans Care wonderful staff for the compassionate care that Richard received in his final years. A celebration of life will be conducted at Harris Funeral Home, 220 St James St, at Richmond, London on Saturday, November 23 at 1:00 pm. Cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions to St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation (Parkwood Veterans Care) would be appreciated.
