Obituary of Mary Felicia Lucyshyn
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Lucyshyn on Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the age of 87 years surrounded by her family.
Mary was born on September 3 1932 in Humboldt. She was the eldest daughter of Peter and Helen Budz. Mary was blessed with a younger sister, Olga in 1934. The Budz family lived a short time in St. Catherines until their return to Saskatoon. In Saskatoon, Mary attended Pleasant Hill Elementary School and Bedford Road Collegiate for her high school years.
Mary married the love of her life, Nick Lucyshyn on September 20, 1952. Together they raised five children; Morris, Norma, Donna, Don and Joanne.
Along with raising five children, Mary worked part-time at various credit unions and St. Mary’s Rectory. Mary was a member of the CWL and Columbian Ladies. Mary was very proud of the accomplishments with the Columbian Ladies. She was especially proud of their donations to the chapel at St. Paul’s Hospital.
As Nick was very active in the Knights of Columbus, his involvement took them across the province, the country and the world. Mary viewed the K of C as an important part of their lives together.
Mary would often be found across the street from her condo at St. Volodymyr Villa. There she participated in various social events. She especially enjoyed visiting and of course being there for Bingo and Happy Hour. Mary’s wit, charm and ability to make anyone feel important and loved will be missed by the residents of St.Volodymyr.
Mary’s proudest moments happened when she was able to brag about her children, her grandchildren or great grandchildren and their accomplishments big and small. She visited her family whenever possible with many, many trips to Ottawa, Calgary, and Red Deer. Mary spent a good deal of time enjoying life and the opportunities it brought. She loved going out for coffee and lunches with her regular crew.
