Lester James Rossiter
1926-2019
Lester James Rossiter, 93, of
Riverview, passed away peacefully, on November 20th, 2019, at the
Moncton Hospital, with his loving family by his
side.
Lester was born in Hopewell
Hill on June 18,1926, the son of the late James and Anna (Doyle)
Rossiter. He worked maintenance with the Federal Government
for 35 years, and was proud to have been retired for nearly as
long.
In his younger years, he
enjoyed fishing, being outdoors, and playing poker with his
family. In his later years, he was an avid BINGO player, and
loved to take in all the local turkey
suppers.
Lester’s faith was
very important to him. He was a member of the St. Bernard’s
Roman Catholic Church, and was also faithful to the Holy Ghost Roman
Catholic Church, where he grew up. He attended services and
church functions faithfully over the
years.
His love for cars was
evident, and he enjoyed searching for the perfect shiny new car, and
couldn’t wait to show it off. He loved driving through
Albert County, and travelling the back
roads.
Lester would often comment on
the fact he was 93, and still blessed to live at home with his wife,
Melda. His family meant the world to him, and he treasured
all the memories they made together. His face
would light up when his grandchildren came around.
Eternal rest grant upon him O
Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May he rest in
peace. Amen.
He will be deeply missed by
his wife and best friend, Melda (Steeves)
Rossiter. His sons: Pat (Colleen) of
Harvey, Tim (Elaine) of Moncton, Kelly of
Riverview. His daughter: Marianne
Mellish (Wayne) of MacDougall
Settlement. His cherished
grandchildren: Jesse, Megan(Ryan), Matthew, Kyle, Levi,
Patrick, Brenden, and Isaac. His
sister: Annie Hoey of Ontario, and sister-in-law, Bertha Rossiter, of
Lower Coverdale. He will
also be missed by several nieces and nephews, and his circle of
friends from church.
Besides his parents he was
predeceased by his brothers, Hilyard, Donahue, Duncan and
Harris.
He will be resting at the
Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Friday from 2-4 and
7-9pm. A prayer Vigil and time of sharing of memories will
be held at the funeral home on Friday evening at 8:30pm. The
Funeral Mass will be held at the St. Bernard’s Roman
Catholic Church on Saturday, November 23rd, 2019 at 11:00am with
Father Charles Broderick officiating. Immediately following
the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for
further fellowship and for refreshments in the church reception
area. Interment will be in the Holy Ghost Cemetery, Hopewell
Hill, NB.
Donations to the Karing
Kitchen, Harvest House or to the charity of the donor’s choice would
be greatly appreciated by the family.
Arrangements are in the care
of the Albert County Funeral Home, 4130 Route 114, Hopewell Cape, NB,
