Gerald V Roney III 1954 2019

Obituary of Gerald V. Roney III
Gerry Roney, affectionately known as G3. passed away November 21, 2019, on his 65th birthday. Gerry had retired as a dedicated teacher at Smith Falls District Collegiate Institute and was enjoying life on his little piece of heaven on Hill Island, amongst the wildlife and the smell of wood fires.
Gerry is the beloved son of Gerald Van Luven Sr., and his predeceased mother Marion Joan Roney. He will be greatly missed by his siblings, Michael, Stephen, Diana and Christopher Roney, and by Kingston’s McCourt family, who were his cousins and life long friends.
He was an eclectic collector and restorer of vintage Volvos and an avid non-fiction reader. He would always say that his family and friends should never go to the hardware store because the chances were high that he could provide whatever tool or part was required, and he did.
Gerry was a very modest and very accomplished jazz guitarist. His riffs will be missed, but his memory will always resonate.
Friends and family will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home on 1900 John Counter Blvd., Kingston, from 6-8 pm on Monday, November 25. A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 am in the James Reid chapel on November 26. In lieu of flowers, Gerry would have been pleased to see donations to the Thousands Island Watershed Land Trust at www.tiwit.ca.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Gerald
