Eileen Gertrude Ells
Eileen Gertrude Ells – 87, of
Northwood in Halifax, formerly of New Minas and Kentville, passed away
Saturday, October 12, 2019 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax
Infirmary Site, Halifax. Born in Port Lorne, Annapolis County, she was
a daughter of the late Roy and Leta (Barnes) (McClare) Neaves. Eileen
was a telephone operator for MT&T in Kentville until she
married her husband, David. Together, they worked on their farm until
he joined the military. His military service allowed them to travel
throughout Canada where she worked at several department stores,
including Towers in New Minas from where she retired. She was an
active member of the First Cornwallis Baptist Church. She enjoyed
cooking, reading, knitting, playing cards, travelling and in her
younger years, camping. Eileen was a loving wife and mother, always
putting her family first. She is survived by a daughter, Kathy Ells,
Halifax; two sons, Don (Joanne), Comox, BC; Carl (Annette), Thompson,
MB; brother, Herman, North Sydney; three grandchildren; two great
grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, David;
two sisters, Shirley Crowell and Lorna Roscoe; brothers, Donald and
Clair Neaves. Cremation has taken place and there will be no
visitation, by request. The funeral service, followed by a reception,
will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2019 in the White Family
Funeral Home, Kentville, Pastor Stephen Wheaton officiating. Private
family burial will take place in the Jaw Bone Corner Cemetery, Canard,
Kings County. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation
to the staff of Northwood 5 Centre for their care, kindness and
compassion. Donations in memory may be made to the First Cornwallis
Baptist Church or a charity of your choice. Funeral arrangements have
been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation
Services, Kentville.
