David Mark Roach
21 November 1951 – 2 November 2019
On November 2, 2019, the Roach family lost it’s patriarch. Dave passed away at home, in Ottawa, in the care of the family he loved.
Dear husband of Paula (nee Monette), proud father of Tara (Dave Delage), Tristan (Emily Villeneuve), and Kathleen (Sean Simons). Devoted grandfather to Owen, Felix, Emmett, Wesley, Marshall, Quinn and Frankie. Dave was the son of George Roach (Frances) and the late Margaret (Kirwan) Roach; brother of Brian, Eric, Jennifer (Ken Clavette), Stephen and Maggie (Al Mariaca); brother-in- law of Lynne (Dave Michaels), Don (Becky Rynor), and Peter Monet; dear friend of Joe Templin (Alice); and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Dave was a caring and devoted husband, a wonderful father, and an outstanding father in law, brother, and son. He was also the absolute best grandfather to his adoring grandchildren who will miss their beloved “bompa” beyond words.
David was a family man first and foremost who loved his family fiercely and was loved fiercely in return. He will be remembered for his eternal optimism, his left handed humour, his strong work ethic, and his unfailing determination. Those who loved him will recall that Dave was an Apple enthusiast, a soccer fanatic, and a student of fine wines. We will always think of him with a guitar and a song.
The family would like to acknowledge Dave’s “new best friend” of the past year, Dr Scott Laurie as well as the compassionate care of Dr. Lisa Cross.
Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 153 Woodroffe Avenue on Friday November 8th at 11:00 am. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, November 9th at the Cube Gallery,1285 Wellington Street W. from 7:00-10:00 pm. For those who wish, memorial donations can be made in his name to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation, Cancer Research.
