Christine “Chris” Ann Gallant
1944-2019
Gallant – With profound sadness
we announce the passing of Christine “Chris” Gallant, our
loving and devoted mother and a friend to all whose lives she touched,
on November 23rd, 2019. She left us surrounded
by her family. She was in her 75th year. Born in Bristol,
England, she moved to Canada when she was 15 years old. During High
School she met her loving husband Clarence, and they were married in
1965 in Miscouche, PEI. They then moved to Summerside and lived in the
house that they resided in until her passing. She was the beloved
mother of Barry (Melanie), Brenda (Greg) and Darren (Heidi) and very
proud grandmother of Dorian, Benjamin and Alex; loving sister to Kathy
(Joe) and Jane (Eldon); and sister-in-law Sheila. Predeceased by her
parents Max and Joyce Bacon and brother John. Chris lived a full life
as a wonderful mother, homemaker and worked for many years at the Tax
Centre in Summerside until health issues forced her to retire. She
loved her dogs. She was very active in the Lady Slipper Kennel Club,
the Maritime Kennel Club and the Canadian Kennel Club. She
and her husband bred dogs and travelled to show for many many years.
There she made a great number of friends who will remember her fondly
for her quick wit and wonderful smile. She also enjoyed gardening and
loved to be surrounded by plants and flowers. Chris was always ready
to help anyone in need with her support and advice, whether it was a
fellow dog owner, friend or family member. Most of all she loved her
family and instilled in her children strong values that have served
them well. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. A
celebration of Chris’s life will be held at the Wilmot
Community Centre on Friday, November
29th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. In
lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made, in her name, to the
PEI Council of People with Disabilities or the International
Children’s Memorial Place. Arrangements entrusted to Moase
Funeral Home, Summerside.
